It was the inaugural MIPIM UK and we were really not quite sure what to expect, who would be there, would the sun shine, would Hammersmith Olympia be as glamorous as Cannes?

300 odd protestors heckling delegates as they entered the show, the police turned out and the protestors eventually managed to close the front doors was definitely not what we expected, who knew that Peer to Peer Lending would cause such a controversy!!

Joking aside the day got off to a flying start, the Proplend stand was very busy from the off. I think what helped is that we were not a local authority, who seem to dominate the exhibitor stands (ever wondered where your council tax goes) and the fact that Proplend are something different. We offer access to monthly income supported by commercial property, and it can all be accessed from your laptop.

It was really good to talk to people who understand commercial property and who understand property finance, thank you to everyone who came to visit us.

Come 5.30pm the show closed down and everyone headed up to the mezzanine level for introductory cocktails which was kindly sponsored by the UK Trade & Industry. Live music, great food, cans of Carling lager, bottles of bitter and Aspalls Cider, Cannes it was not but we still had a great time and met a few fellow exhibitors.

Let’s see what Thursday brings.
