The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is currently undergoing their regulatory review of Crowdfunding. To better inform this ongoing review, the FCA has commissioned the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF) at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School to carry-forth a research programme to provide unbiased, data-driven feedback on the current state-of-play for the industry and highlight how the industry has developed since the inception of regulation in 2014.
CCAF is a global advisory and research centre, dedicated to the study of alternative financial instruments and channels that emerge outside of the traditional banking and capital markets system. To date the CCAF has published eight influential crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending industry reports , gathering empirical data from 1,200 platforms, covering more than 100 countries. This study builds upon the success of the CCAF’s previous annual UK Alternative Finance Industry Report: Pushing Boundaries, which highlighted the size and growth of the UK’s alternative finance industry and focused upon key market trends. This report received world-wide mainstream media attention and informed evidence-based policy-making and regulation across the UK.
A major component of this research is to understand how key stakeholders utilise alternative finance platforms, and how their activity and behaviour has shaped the quickly-evolving Crowdfunding and P2P lending landscape. To this end, the CCAF has invited Proplend to participate in this research programme, to ensure that the activities and perspectives of key stakeholders are captured and represented in the feedback to the FCA.
With the help of Proplend, the CCAF has launched a series of surveys aimed at capturing key qualitative information from investors. The questions within this short survey focus on the behaviour and perceptions of these stakeholders towards their activity and should paint an accurate picture as to how both investors and borrowers interact through the platform medium. The outcome of this review may have an effect on how individuals like you use crowdfunding and P2P lending platforms, so this is a great opportunity to have your voice heard!
These surveys will remain open until December 22nd. The survey should take no more than 10 to 15 minutes to complete and consists of approximately 30 questions. Your answers are strictly confidential and will remain anonymous. There is an opportunity at the end of the survey to participate in a phone interview with CCAF should you so wish, there is no obligation to complete that part. The findings from the survey will be published in the 2017 UK Alternative Finance Industry Report, which will be distributed freely to the public, policy-makers and regulators. Please note that this survey is best viewed on a desktop or laptop. Should you wish to contact the research team, please feel free to contact Tania Ziegler via email [email protected] or [email protected].
